Privacy Policy
Effective November 1, 2026
Zapyso doesn’t collect your data. Your recordings, text and summaries are created and stored on your iPhone or Mac. There is no account, no analytics and no advertising, and we have no servers that receive your meetings.
What stays on your iPhone
- Audio you record or import, the text, summaries, translations and bookmarks are stored only in Zapyso’s storage on your iPhone.
- Speech recognition and summaries run on the device.
- Recordings are protected by iOS data protection.
- If you use iCloud Backup or back up your iPhone to a computer, this data is included in that backup like the data of other apps. Backups are handled by Apple and by your settings.
When Zapyso uses the internet
- Only to download the on-device models, about 4.2 GB, after you tap Download in the app. The speech recognition model (NVIDIA Parakeet) and the summary model (Google Gemma) are downloaded from Hugging Face (huggingface.co). These are ordinary file downloads: no recordings or text are sent. Like any website, Hugging Face receives technical information such as your IP address; see the Hugging Face privacy policy.
- Translation uses Apple’s Translation framework, which translates on the device. iOS may download language files for it.
- Once the models are on your iPhone, Zapyso works without internet, even in Airplane Mode.
Microphone
Zapyso uses the microphone only while you record a meeting.
Notifications
Zapyso shows notifications created on your iPhone, for example when the models finish downloading. It doesn’t use a push notification service.
Sharing
When you share or export a meeting, it goes only where you choose, such as Mail or Files.
Zapyso for Mac
The Mac app follows the same rules: recordings, text, summaries and dictations are made and kept on your Mac, in Zapyso’s folder (~/Library/Application Support/Zapyso). No account and no analytics.
- Recording a call. While you record, Zapyso writes your microphone and the sound of other apps (the other side of the call) to two separate files. macOS asks you to allow both.
- Noticing a call. To offer to record, Zapyso watches which apps are using the microphone and playing sound. If you allowed Accessibility, it also reads the title of a browser’s front window, such as «Google Meet», to name the call, and to tell mail and chats in a browser apart for dictation. None of this is saved or sent anywhere.
- Dictation. While you hold the dictation key, Zapyso records your voice, turns it into text on the Mac and pastes it at your cursor; in mail, notes and chat apps a local model lays the text out first. Accessibility lets it hear the key in other apps and paste. Dictated text is kept in the «Dictations» journal on your Mac until you delete it.
- Updates. Once a day, and when you choose Check for Updates, Zapyso downloads a short list of versions from zapyso.vercel.app, and a new version from the same site if you install it. The request carries only the app’s version; nothing about you or your meetings. Like any website, the server, run by Vercel, receives technical information such as your IP address; see the Vercel privacy policy.
- Models are downloaded from Hugging Face, as on iPhone (about 4–6 GB).
- Deleting. Delete a meeting or a dictation in the app. To remove everything, quit Zapyso, delete the app and the folder ~/Library/Application Support/Zapyso.
What we don’t do
The apps have no account, no analytics, no advertising, no tracking, and no third-party code that collects data. We don’t sell or share any data.
This website
zapyso.app counts visits with Vercel Web Analytics: no cookies and nothing that identifies you or follows you to other sites. We see only totals, such as how many people opened a page, from which country and on what kind of device. See the Vercel Web Analytics privacy notes.
Deleting your data
Delete a meeting, or only its audio, in the app. Deleting Zapyso removes all its data from your iPhone.
Children
Zapyso doesn’t collect data from anyone, including children.
Changes
If this policy changes, we’ll update this page and the date above.
Writing to us
If you write to us, we receive your email address and what you put in the message. When you tap Contact Support in the app, Zapyso adds its version, the iPhone model and the iOS version to a draft that you see before sending. We use this only to answer you.
